A snapshot of what we believe ..........................

Worship

Worship

We believe that every believer is called to live lives of worship to God. A significant part of worship is our corporate gatherings on Sundays to praise and worship through song and also mid-week gatherings, like Life Groups, where we worship in homes. However, worship is most powerfully seen in lives wholly dedicated to Him (1 Chron. 16:23-31, John 4:23-24, Rom. 12:1-2).

Love

Love

We believe that God's consistent, extravagant and inexhaustible love for the world does not waiver, and that this caused Him to sacrifice His own son for our benefit. We believe, as we have received His love, we are to love those around us. His love is key to all we are and all we do in Christ (John 3:16, Rom. 8:38-39, 1 Cor. 13: 1-3).

Kingdom

Kingdom

We believe that the kingdom of God came when Jesus walked on the earth, that we now walk in His kingdom and that His kingdom will be fully realised when Jesus returns. Our calling is to bring the kingdom of God on earth everywhere we go and to live as a people expectant of God's supernatural power to move (Dan. 7:18, Matt. 4:17, Matt. 6:10, Matt. 9:35, Matt. 13:31-32).

Discipleship

Discipleship

A disciple is someone who has made the big decision to follow Christ and to live his/her life for Him. We believe it is every believer's responsibility to disciple others whether formally or informally. We are all meant to encourage each other on our faith journey (see Matt. 18:18-20).

Faith

Faith

We need faith to be saved but we believe that faith in God did not end at the point of salvation. God is calling us to daily walk in the truth of His character, work and love for us as expressed in Scripture. This requires faith in Him. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. So to grow in God, we must grow in the quality of our faith through the power of the Holy Spirit (2. Cor. 5:7, Rom. 10:17, Heb. 11:6).

Grace

Grace

We believe that God through Christ saved us from sin, self and eternal separation from Himself. We did nothing to deserve God's saving grace. God's grace is His undeserved blessing. In Scripture, and in our lives, this is expressed as unconditional love to those that do not deserve it, peace to the restless, hope to the hopeless, and many more expressions. It is by grace we have been saved through faith, not by works. We also believe we are to extend this grace to others (Eph. 2:8-9).

Prayer

Prayer

We believe prayer should be right at the heart of a believer's life. It shows our total dependence on God. We believe there is power in prayer and that this is a vital part of the relationship with God. When we pray, Father God hears us, as Jesus intercedes to the Father on our behalf (Matt. 6: 6, John 14:11-14, Rom. 8:34, Rom.12:12).

Baptism

Baptism

We believe in the believer's baptism (baptism by full immersion after a confession of faith), that it is a significant act in every disciple's life and that Scripture clearly commands it. We believe that there is power in every act Jesus instructed us to do, and baptism is the first one. Baptism is not optional but is the start of a lifestyle of obedience and faith to the commands of Jesus (Acts 2:38, Acts 10:47-48).

Gospel

Gospel

The gospel message is Jesus' life, death and resurrection. We believe it is the only power sufficient to save and transform individuals and communities, locally and in the nations. The gospel radically changes our lives at the point of salvation and its truth is meant to continually shape our lives, as we proclaim it to others. The gospel takes the power to save out of the hands of moralism (being good vs being bad) and puts it firmly in grace through faith in Jesus (Rom. 1:16, Phil. 1:27).

Family

Family

We believe the church is the family of God here on earth and is called to live this out in deep, authentic, loving relationships. We believe all members of the local church living out this biblical family model, under the headship of God the Father, is a powerful display of the gospel message (Matt. 12:49-50, Eph. 2:19, Acts 2:42-47).

Servanthood

Servanthood

We are to love and serve others, and that leadership in the church is primarily servanthood. Jesus modelled this throughout His life and ultimately on the Cross, and we are to look to others' needs and success before our own (Mark 9:35, Matt. 20:28, Phil. 2:7, 1 John 3:18).

The Poor

The Poor

The church has a mandate from the Bible to embrace those who are materially and spiritually poor. We are called to value, encourage and empower the poor for local and global mission (Gal. 2:10, Ps 113:7). Our vision is that rich and poor from all nations work together because this best demonstrates the gospel truth of 'One New Man'

The City

The City

God loves our city, Perth and He has caused this city to exist for His purposes. The gospel message we proclaim has the power to shape our city. God wants to use cities and the churches in them to become life-enhancing and redemptive centres of gospel proclamation . (Jer. 29:4-7).

Diversity & Unity

Diversity & Unity

We believe the church consists of people from different cultures, nations and backgrounds with a single goals, that is, to glorify Jesus. We are united together by Jesus. Through Christ's finished work on the cross we have now become one new humanity. (Eph. 2:14-16)

Local Church

Local Church

We believe God chose the local church as the vehicle for bringing change to the nations and advancing the gospel. We believe every Christ follower is to be plugged into a local church to meet with God, grow and to go on mission. (1 Tim. 3:15, Acts 2:42-47)

Elders & Deacons

Elders & Deacons

We believe in gifted and anointed, male eldership team. God has anointed elders to shepherd His church and to envision it. Elders are servant-leaders who have oversight of the church. Eldership couples (elders and their wives) actively lead and support various ministries of the church. Apart from the Elders, God has appointed gifted and anointed male and female deacons to serve alongside elders in overseeing particular areas of the church. (1 Tim. 3:1-13, Titus 1:5-9)
